Eat to Heal
Meet the holistic chef
This is Alexis - the founder of Living by Intention. She began her business with a mission to help raise the health standard of her community through introducing the concept of quality nutrients in all forms. She recognized a need to assist her community in becoming aware of the power of food and how it can heal the body - but not just the physical. Alexis has found that healing our relationship with food can result in an enhancement in mental, emotional and spiritual health as well. When one maintains the homeostasis of their bodies - aka temples - evolution can literally continue in a positive direction.
The right choices can help prevent disease in the body, ignite longevity, and lead to a graceful aging process. The lifestyle choices we make now will determine what our life looks like decades later - that goes with everything.
The dinner experience concept
Alexis prides herself on being fully transparent about her ingredients with her clients. Eat to Heal is more than a dinner because throughout the duration of the event, she is cooking in front of her attendees and showing them exactly how it is done. It is a 3 course themed spread inspired by her Black & Indigenous Heritage. She recognized that over time, people lost the ability to create tasty whole foods fresh from the farm. People got so use to eating out and seeking convenience that they stopped paying attention to what was in the foods they were consuming regularly. In doing so, they lost connection to what helped the thousands of generations before them evolve up to this point in history - real food. Eat to Heal: a Dinner Experience is a cooking lesson as well as a deep dive into the deeper meanings of eating healthy through tasting new flavors derived from plants.
integrity is key & quality matters!
Even when one looks up healthy restaurants to eat at, it is rare to find restaurants that are truly organic - gluten free - dairy free - processed sugar free - grass fed - antibiotic free - chemical free, farm to table - vegan - & free of cheap inflammatory oils/fats. Most restaurants, even healthy ones, are cutting corners to some degree. One can order a salad and still be consuming tons of sugar, carbs, and inflammatory oils - so what’s the point?
Alexis decided to take matters in her own hands to curate a private garden to table dinner experience that is also an educational experience for her attendees. A completely organic whole foods dinner party with as many locally sourced ingredients as possible.
